Project abstract

In order to meet renewable energy targets and sufficiently reduce greenhouse gas emissions, also the electricity market needs to be adopted. Current pricing arrangements for electricity transmission, initially based on large point sources, has to be adapted to better suit intermittent, remote sources of electricity. The prices have to ensure that the increased costs are recovered, while simultaneously allowing renewable energy to be harnessed where the potential is the highest. By using simulations and knowledge from mathematics, economics and electrical engineering, this project will assess existing arrangements for transmission pricing as well as make recommendations for future improvements.
