Project abstract
This postdoctoral project is oriented towards the stability assessment of power-electronics (PE)-dominated power systems. The main aim is to find a credible solution for a grid run 100% based on PE-based energy sources.
The grid-forming (GFM) control approach is considered a substitution of synchronous generators with renewable energy sources to aim this goal. In this way, different GFM control approaches are studied in detail, and their stability characteristics are tested in the power system scope.
Another aim of this project is to analyze the sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) caused by the proposed GFM control approaches. Next, a modified control approach will be introduced to mitigate the SSR in GFM control approaches of the PE-based units.
